This website is part of a research project conducted by Isabel Arevalo Vigne as part of her PhD research at the School of Agricultural and Resource Economics – University of Western Australia, and with support from the Plant Biosecurity CRC.
The Research Project – Community engagement in biosecurity
The objective of this research project is to evaluate the role of science communication and incentives in the adoption of area wide management control for Mediterranean fruit fly in Western Australia
This project is about understanding the factors involved in people’s decisions to adopt control methods for Medfly; as well as evaluating the issues impeding collective participation of commercial growers and the public in an area-wide management approach in Western Australia.
The information contained within these pages has been prepared to help improve people’s participation in control activities of Medfly in urban and rural areas, in support of the fruit industry in Western Australia.
